Rachel Weisz Wants Botox Banned for Actors

According to an interview with Harper's Bazaar magazine, actress Rachel Weisz wants a ban on Botox for actors. According to Entertainment Daily:

The Constant Gardener star said that she wanted the cosmetic treatment forbidden onscreen since it came under the way of altering an actor’s expression.
“It should be banned for actors, as steroids are for sportsmen. Acting is all about expression; why would you want to iron out a frown?” the Daily Express quoted her as telling Harper’s Bazaar magazine.

Well, that's all fine and dandy. It would be funny if they agreed to this for her next movie and suddenly all the other actors show up wrinkle-free anyways. They could just use Dysport instead.

Rachel is right, i rather see an actor with character in his or her face than one who looks plastic.

  2. Lol! I guess she has a point. As for banning actors from using it, I am sure this was said tongue in cheek. I wonder why the people who are always saying, "Oh, I'd NEVER have Botox!" have wrinkle-free brows... Either they are using, or have the good fortune to be naturally expressionless.

How ironic! What is she? 23? Wonder what she'll think about botox when she's 35?

She'll figure it out in a few years. She's only 37. I had a lineless face at 37. I didn't see any wrinkling until my early 40's, and even then I wasn't compelled to do anything about it, not til I turned 46. She'll be on the bandwagon too, I guarantee.

I think the fact that so many botch surgeries in the holywood scene have certainly scared a lot of people. I often think some of the worst surgeons reside in Holywood because they are driven by something far more obsessive than medical ethics, money and fame that is.

The results can be devestating! perhaps this is what rachel is implying, and i may have to agree with her, as a surgeon myself.

  6. I actually don't mind a few wrinkles at all, I'd even say I like them on experienced people.

Sarah, you might not mind wrinkles (and I don't either), but for an actress they are the kiss of career death.

I want to know how Weisz feels about Botox when she's 47. At 37 it's easy for her to be against it, she doesn't have a need for it yet. Hollywood need, that is, not to be confused with real life need.
