More Details on Usher's Wife Tameka Foster's Plastic Surgery Complications
More details are emerging regarding the complications suffered by Usher's wife Tameka Foster as she underwent liposuction surgery while in Brazil. Apparently her doctor, Brazilian plastic surgeon Dr. Silvio Sterman, planned to perform liposuction on her while she was only two months postpartum. After being placed under general anesthesia she suffered a cardiac arrest and was revived via CPR. She was then placed into a drug-induced coma in order to run tests and make sure she was stabilized. She has now been discharged from the hospital and is said to be "doing very well."
I do not perform any cosmetic surgery on women who are less than 6 months postpartum. There is no scientific studies which determine that 6 months is a mandatory time frame, but I believe the changes that occur in a woman's body (both physical and hormonal) can persist for months after a baby is born. Liposuction just 2 months after giving birth? In my opinion that is too soon.

I hate to sound judgmental, but the mother of a two-month old infant should be home with that baby breastfeeding him/her. Not only was the surgeon remiss; Ms. Foster apparently has a skewed sense of values.
ReplyDeleteI will soften my criticism by commenting that celebrities seem to be required to snap back from pregnancy as if it were a coffee break.

Why do you think she had this procedure done in Brazil -- was it less expensive or to keep out of the Hollywood spotlight or some other reason?
ReplyDeleteProbably did not have to do with money but more with privacy!
