Charlie's Angels at the Emmys

I got a chance to watch the Emmy Awards last night. I don't watch a lot of TV, but am hooked on a few reality shows, in addition to Scrubs and Lost. Therefore, I wasn't much into the awards last night. What did catch my attention, however, was the reunion of Charlie's Angels. Wow. Back in the day, I thought Farrah was gorgeous. Now, the three of them appear to be examples of both good and bad plastic surgery.
I think that Jaclyn Smith (60 years old) looks fantastic. She looks like an older Katherine McPhee. Although I haven't seen her (or a photo of her) in a few years, it appears that she's had a facelift with fat grafting (my specialty - the Volumetric Facelift). That's why I think her face looks the "softest" of the three. Her skin is tight, but not too tight (see Kate Jackson) and she doesn't have the gauntness of Farrah.
I've always said that good plastic surgery is so good that you can't tell it's been done. She doesn't have any of the telltale signs of plastic surgery that I could see last night, except that her age gives her away. In my opinion, that's good work.

Kate Jackson is from where I grew up & now live in Mountain Brook, Alabama just putside of Birmingham. I remember sitting next to her in church about 10 years ago when she must have been visiting her family & I was taken aback by how stricking she is in person. Absolutely beautiful features in person that really don't show so much on TV.

She may have had some work done, but she's always had a fairly gaunt & defined face and neck even in the 1970's.

Thanks for your comment Mollie D. I will admit to not having looked at Jaclyn's face close-up (I have a 25 inch TV), but what I saw looked good.
Surgery is not for everyone, and even in today's society just over 50% say they "approve" of plastic surgery. Obviously a much lower percentage would have it done on themselves.
I do agree that the people you mention appear to have bad work done, however I would argue that there are a lot of people who have had work done which you (and I) cannot tell has been done. They just look naturally good. This is what we, as reputable plastic surgeons, should strive for (and I do). I encourage you to look at photos on my website and tell me if any of them look like they have "bubbled-up cheeks, the blown-up lips, the tightened foreheads and their eyes are take on a hyper-almond shape" that you have mentioned.
It is best to be happy with your appearance without any plastic surgery. I am glad that you are. Thanks for the very interesting comments!

Angels still looking good at the Emmy's. Farrah needs a lil help though while Jaclyn looks amazing.

On the other hand, Manolo said: Aye, the Botox angels...

I have no problem with plastic surgery to look attractive, but my personal question is why they have to look like 30 year old women, instead of attractive mature 50 year old women? Angela Lansbury would be an example of aging gracefully.

Jaclyn Smith has never had plastic surgery! She talked about it with Oprah last year and I totally believe it.Everyone wants to be critical and not believe it because she's still so stunning. But there are people out there who grow old gracefully without any sutgery.I've always believed Jaclyn to be a dowbn to earth person who has always been completely honest and prides herself on her honesty and integrity.I know alot of people are going to go "Yeah, right, and you believe that?"Well,Yes,I do!When Oprah told her she looks fantastic and said "and you've never had surgery, right?"She responded with "No,I haven't felt the need to do it up to this point. But it's not to say I never would."So those of you asking what kind of surgery she's had,the answer is none!!It's all in the genes!!

THREE CHEERS FOR DAVID. JUST BECAUSE ALL YOU NEGATIVE AND ENVIOUS PEOPLE OUT THERE WANT TO BELIEVE THAT EVERY WOMEN 60 OR OVER CAN ONLY LOOK YOUTHFUL WITH PLASTIC SURGERY, YOU MAKE FALSE COMMENTS. IF THE LADY SAYS SHE HAS NOT DONE IT, THEN SHE HAS NOT DONE IT. GET UP WITH THE TIMES FOLKS. IT IS NO BIG DEAL TO SAY YOU HAVE HAD PLASTIC SURGERY IN THIS DAY AND AGE. ESPECIALY IN HOLLYWOOD!

Look at all the women who once said they had never had cosmetic surgery (Jane Fonda comes to mind), then years later they admit to having had work done. Maybe some of them have not had "surgery", just injections. I think it's great that Jaclyn Smith looks so good at 62, but it's hard to believe that she's never developed a wrinkle or a sag. Have you ever seen a 62 year old woman that doesn't at least have a few forehead creases, laugh lines, and crow's feet? Let's be realistic.

You don't suppose Ms. Fawcett looked gaunt because of her cancer?

In response to Dr. Rob Oliver, every celebrity I have ever seen is more beautiful in person. Even if I never thought they were attractive, when I see them in person they're absolutely striking and then I understand why they are on camera.

Saw Jaclyn Smith on Law & Order

HER FACE LOOKS AWEFUL. Can't these doc's see that the space between the bottom of her nose and top of her lip is bigger than the state of Texas. Lots of real estate for a mustache! She has no upper lip line, flat lips. She looks terrible. What happened? No plasic surgery...I don't believe it.
