Celebrities With the Best and Worst Skin

There is a photo gallery of the Top 5 Celebs with the Best and Worst Skin on AOL Health.com. I would have to agree with most of their assessments. My picks for the best skin: Cate Blanchett and Halle Berry (tie), worst skin: Lindsay Lohan.

In my opinion there are three things that are most important to having great skin as you age:
1. Wear sunblock and avoid excessive sun
2. Don't smoke
3. Hope that you inherited good genes

Some other suggestions include: Apply Retin A or Retinol creams, drink lots of water, avoid too much alcohol and fast food, and exfoliate. A good chemical peel also helps.

Interesting. You do know that both Cate Blanchett and Liv Tyler smoke in real life?

Kinda proves then that genetics play a much larger part on skin and aging that sometimes smoking and sun?

I'll bet sun avoidance is #1, even above genetics. The sun is very very damaging.

Btw, women are not being told of the damage caused by tanning beds. The UV-B rays emitted by the bulbs reduce burning but actually do a lot of damage to the skin.

I'm thinking that the worst thing about smoking is that it creates those nasty lines around the mouth. The constant pursing of the lips over years and years will eventually cause permanent wrinkling.

While I don't deny that smoking and sun bathing are major contributors to aging, I still think genetics plays the largest factor. My mum smokes (to this day still), drank and lay in the sun all of the time. She is 74 and has beautiful skin which people are envious of. It's smooth, no pores, minimal wrinkles and minimal jowls with firm neck and decollette. She swears her secret is using plain old Nivea slathered on her skin every night.

I don't think that's proof that genetics plays the largest role. I think that just shows that some people get lucky, or do have amazing skin. You could still screw up perfect skin with enough time in the sun. Not to mention skin cancer, which isn't funny.
My pick for worst celebrity skin? Brooke Hogan (pseudo celebrity). Sometimes in pictures I have to look twice before I can tell if it's her, or her mother. Yeek!
